Sensitized and sensitive skin
Regardless of skin type, the skin can become temporarily sensitized due to many different causes, for example harsh climate or bad skin care habits. Normally, it’s a temporarly and managleble disturbance in the skins balance.

With age, the skin usually becomes more prone to irritation and discomfort due to decreased production of hyaluronic acid and lipids. Mature skin is thinner and less able to retain moisture and repair itself as effectively as younger skin. Thats why it’s very important to strengthen the mature skin’s self-defense and protect it from air pollutants that irritate and damage the skin barrier.

Someone with “truly” sensitive skin is born with a predisposition for blushing and allergies, redness, itching, burning and stinging sensation. Often, other family members have similar problems.
It’s common to overreact to things that work for those with “normal” skin. This is of course frustrating and affects the quality of life.

People with a sensitive skin type are more prone to skin dehydration and inflammation. The skin is thinner and more delicate with blod vessels closer to the surface, which explains the tendency to redness.
Exposure to fragrances, chemicals, stress, sun and air pollutants is challenging for all types of skin, but sensitive skin is extra vulnerable due to it’s low moisture content and impaired skin barrier function.

When it comes to skincare products, staing  away from too advanced skincare routines and harsh and dehydrating products is key.
Our products are formulated with science backed, gentle and carefully selected ingredients that specifically target the needs of sensitive skin.
